Hi my name is Ryan and I've decided it is about time for me to create a blog. I'm very excited to get to know everyone that will be reading that is if anyone wants to read this. I'm not very optimistic about this but I will give it a try and hopefully I will meet some interesting people.
A few of the intrests that I have include video games, Magic the Gathering and the outdoors in general esspecialy herpetology and entomology (reptiles and bugs respectivly). I have been breeding moths with my father for about 5 years now and it is very interesting. I have one dog right a jack russel/bichon mix his name is JacJak. Me and my girlfriend are thinking about adding to the family with another larger breed of dog.
One more thing about me quickly is that I have been been working in customer service/sales for about 3 years now through a large national retailer. This is just a job for me right now and I'm hoping some day to get a job in the video game industry. I have a 2 year AAS degree right now and am looking at schools right now to learn some coding/design for video games.
Enough about me time to let you know a little bit about this blog. I have been looking at job postings for the video game industry as of late and have seen that almost every job you need to have experience for about three years blogging. Although this isn't the only reason I want to blog it is the thing that finally pushed me to start a blog.
I would love for this to become a conversation blog between all of you and me and would love to get to know every reader by your comments and also reading your blogs. So I will be reading all comments and adressing most if not all of the comments I get through the comment thread or the next blog I write.
That all being said one of the things I'll be blogging about the most is video game news and the video games I have been playing. I will also be blogging about school, work, entomology, herpetology, everyday life, and anything else I think you will all want to read.
The first thing I wanted to talk about is Magic the Gathering. I played the game from probably 6th grade up through my first few years of college so probably close to 10 years. It really does mean a lot to me and I didn't realize that until a few days ago when I decided I was going to sell most of my collection. I haven't sold it yet but I have priced it out and I can get just over $1000 for most of the cards.
The reason this is so hard for me is that I would really like to start playing the game again in the future. It would be very expensive for me to rebuild this collection in the future and I really do have an emotion atachment to the cards. I have been playing the game for such a long time and it was really the first hobby I had that I was really this excited about. It has been about two years since I last played but it gives me a sinking feeling when I think about selling them.
